In the AI evolution, a significant and lasting vision mission has been on designing autonomous systems (AutoAI). AutoAI differs significantly from another set of movements automated machine learning (AutoML) data science (AutoDS), which are often deemed interchangeable with AI. AutoML AutoDS aim to automate some analytical tasks, processes, pipelines. This issue highlights theme AutoAI: Autonomous six feature articles. My editorial further clarifies various misconceptions, myths, pitfalls about three related confused areas: AutoAI, AutoML, AutoDS. also includes an article parallel population human in column Expert, expert–machine collaboration Focus, intelligent mobile spaces metaverses for Cyber-Physical-Social Systems (AI-CPSS) department.
